Hollingbury Park Playground - reopening update
You may be aware that Hollingbury Park playground on Ditchling Road, just south of the golf course is in the process of being refurbished and is due to be officially opened on 13th September. However the first phase of the work is now complete so the toddler area and junior swings have now been opened up ready for this Bank Holiday weekend. I am blogging on this as although the playground is situated in Hollingbury and Stanmer Ward, residents from Withdean Ward also like to use the play facilities.
Update - Illegal Encampment at Green Ridge
I have been informed that a Sec. 61 notice will be served by the Police at 1.30pm today requesting the Travellers to leave by the end of the day and I understand that the area will be secured immediately after Green Ridge is vacated. Brighton and Hove City Council will then arrange for the site to be cleaned. Discussions are now taking place to further protect Green Ridge and the land adjoining Windmill Drive.
Surrenden area road safety issues
Ken and I have met recently with council road safety officers at the junction of Surrenden Road and Surrenden Crescent as well as the junction of Surrenden Road and Harrington Road to assess the current situation regarding safety of pedestrians and road users.
We have also had several communications with residents of the immediate area who are particularly concerned about safety issues for school children.
We have been making good progress and improvements to white lining and signage should be implemented in the very near future pending the necessary legal procedures.
It is thought that the best way to address the crossing point at the junction of Harrington Road and Surrenden Road would be to advertise for a school crossing patrol so that children using this could do so safely.
