Withdean Ward
Withdean ward is geographically one of the largest wards in Brighton and Hove.
The ward is bounded in an anticlockwise direction beginning at the City boundary on the Saddlescoombe Road by Dyke Road Avenue, Dyke Road, Millers Road, South Road, Preston Drove, Balfor Road, Ditchling Road, Surrenden Road, Peacock Lane, London Road, The Deneway, Eldred Avenue and following the railway line to the city boundary.
Withdean is predominantly a residential area with the Green Ridge open space on its northern side. The very popular Waterhall sports and recreation ground lies north of the A27 and is the home of the Brighton Rugby Club.
The ward contains several secondary and primary schools as well as Withdean Stadium which is the current home of Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and several excellent athletics clubs. Westdene public Library is attached to Westdene Primary school in Bankside and there are several local parades of shops spread across the ward.
