Kingsway planning application - let the Council know what you think
The Council has received a planning application for 149-151 Kingsway (ref. BH2008/02107) which, if approved, would result in the demolition of the existing dwellings and the erection of 8 new apartments with associated parking and gardens.
The deadline for comments is Tuesday 26th August so, if you have an opinion either way, I would urge you to let the Council’s planners know. The plans can be viewed at

Tree problems
Whilst walking around Westbourne Ward over the weekend, I noticed that in
There were also a number of fallen leaves (presumably due to the unseasonably strong winds we have been experiencing recently), which have not been cleared. These can lead to blocked drains and slippery pavements which we should try and avoid if at all possible.
I have asked officers in the Council’s Environment Directorate if they can attend to these matters as soon as possible.
And finally, I also noticed that a tree had been cut down in the grounds of
Update 1: I have been informed by officers that they are introducing a new pruning regime for street trees such as those in Pembroke Crescent. This will now happen every two years (as opposed to 3 years) with an interim inspection every year (scheduled for this autumn). Hopefully, this should sort out the problem.
Update 2: The tree at Hove Museum was an infected Elm and therefore, had to be removed. Officers are hoping to replace it this autumn/winter.
