What am I doing after the 15th May?
A number of people have asked me recently if I am remaining a Member of the Council after I step down as Leader of Brighton and Hove City Council on the 15th May.
I can confirm that I am carrying on as a Councillor and will continue to represent the Westbourne Ward, along with my colleague, Councillor Denise Cobb, on the Council.
I also intend to stand again for Westbourne Ward in the 2011 elections when all seats on the City Council will be up for re-election.

The next Westbourne Ward Councillors' Ward advice surgery will be held on the 14th May from 5pm until 6.30pm. No appointment is necessary so please do come along if you have anything you wish to raise.

Westbourne Hospital Site
I received the following update on the redevelopment of the Westbourne Hospital site, on New Church Road, on 21 May. I will post further updates.
"Downland Housing Association are delivering the scheme which comprises the 24 units of short break and long term accommodation for the learning disabilities service plus 25 general needs shared ownership flats.
The enabling works on site are underway although the demolition of the existing building has been delayed by 2 weeks due to a delay in getting the remediation strategy signed off in Planning. There is no impact on the overall delivery timetable for the scheme or the anticipated completion date of November 2009."
