Wednesday - Ward Advice Bureau
Councillor Denise Cobb, who is my Ward colleague, and I hold a Westbourne Ward Advice Bureau on the second Wednesday of each month. We are at Hove Museum today on New Church Road, between 5pm and 6.30pm. No appointment is necessary.
Parking issues still a concern
I continue to receive concerns about parking in the Ward following the introduction on the 11th September of the extension to the Westbourne parking scheme. In Westbourne Ward, these principally are around the impact on local businesses and how their customers can access services. I am taking up these issues with the Council to see what can be done to try to resolve these matters.
I also raised a number of concerns at the Environment Committee meeting, a couple of weeks ago, about the existing scheme. Most people find it helpful but some people who often have visitors find it difficult to manage with 50 permits or the pay-and-display machines. I have been told that these existing issues will be considered when the extension of the scheme is reviewed.

Flying the Flag
I was interviewed on BBC Southern Counties radio this morning about an initiative the Council wants to take forward regarding flying flags on days which are important to local people. The Conservative Group proposed this idea and it was taken up by the Council in July.
Flags will be flown a few times each month to remember important events, dates and occasions.
If you would like more information on this initaitive, please email me at brian.oxley1@mac.com
The issue is due to be discussed at the Council's Policy and Resources Committee this afternoon.
