Welcome to my web pages, I hope what you find here will tell you something about me and my work as one of the three councillors representing East Brighton ward on Brighton and Hove City Council along with Gill Mitchell and Craig Turton.

I am originally from Hove, and apart from university have lived and worked in Sussex all of my life. I moved to the Manor Farm area of East Brighton ten years ago, and was first elected to the city council in May 2003 as one of the youngest members of the authority aged 36. In May 2007 I was re-elected for a second four year term.

After studying at both Sussex and Hull universities I worked in tourist information management and for Sussex Police, before taking up a part-time post in 2004 so that I could commit more time to my role as a councillor. If you would like to know what an average day for me is like  (though councillors don't have average days, which is one of the things I like about the role) take a look at my "day in the life" section.

In March 2006 I took over from Des Turner as Chair of the Whitehawk Crime Prevention Forum. One of my priorities is supporting youth provision in my ward, and I am a trustee of the Crew Club, a Governor at Whitehawk Primary School and a committee member at The Manor (Manor Road Gym).
